Commercial Plywood is meant for purposes like making furniture frames, packaging purposes, plywood pallets etc. It can be considered to be the one of the lowest priced plywood available since it is made out of Urea Formaldehyde (UF Resin) and soft wood species as core veneers. In this category also the commercial plywood being used for packaging and pallet purpose if inferior in quality and durability as the purpose does expect only the same. Whereas the commercial grade plywood used for furniture frame is more durable and can be expected to last for a long time. Since the UF resin is used such plywood is ideally suited for areas where there is less chance of exposure to extreme moisture, as continuous exposure may lead to delamination of plywood core veneer bonding.
Commercial plywood could be used for making wardrobes, tables, cupboards, sofa frames, false ceiling etc, that is for any interior purpose where there is less chance of exposure to moisture. Commercial Plywood has been standardized as ISI 303 MR Grade which should be ideally used for making furniture and interior purposes as explained above. We at Boards India, manufacture ISI 303 MR Grade Plywood with 20% M-UF (Melamine - Urea Formaldehyde) Resin for providing extra strength and durability to plywood. The addition of 20% Melamine to the UF Resin provides moisture resistance, borer protection and good bonding to the plywood.
The face veneer is which is the topmost layer of the plywood is for providing good aesthetics and a plain surface for pasting laminates or other decorative material.
